SO HENNA
What is the difference between brow Henna and Tint?
Henna is a dye created from the plant Lawsonia Inermis. The orange dye present in the leaves of the henna plant, chemically reacts with the keratin in the skin and hairs, resulting in a strong stain that lasts until the skin or hair changes. Eyebrow henna is the commercial name for products used as a brow colouring solution, however, it may not always be derived from the henna plant. Eyebrow henna is a powder that is mixed with water into a creamy paste that is then applied to the eyebrows. Eyebrow tint is another form of dye that is widely used in lash and eyebrow colouring. It is usually the consistency of a gel/cream and needs to be mixed with an oxidant (hydrogen peroxide) in order to be activated. Once applied to the eyelashes or eyebrows, colouring agents bond with keratin and start the tinting process.
How can I achieve the brow lamination effect using So Henna?
You can use the So Henna Brow Soap to finish off the treatment to imitate the effect of brow lamination. However, please bear in mind that brow lamination itself should never be combined with henna brow treatment.
Can I use henna for brow lamination treatment?
Henna dye cannot be used for Brow Bomber (brow lamination) treatment. Both henna and lamination slightly dry out the eyebrow hair and when combined together can cause damage to the eyebrows.
You should wait at least 20 days after brow lamination to offer a henna brow treatment. For brow lamination, it is recommended to use tint.
Are So Henna products vegan?
So Henna products are:
- vegan
- cruelty-free
- Halal certified
- low in PPD
- ammonia-free
- hydrogen peroxide free
- eco friendly
Please note - Our So Henna White Brow Mapping Paste is not vegan as it contains beeswax. Please check each product listing for exact specifications.
How long does it take to perform the treatment?
So Henna should stay on the eyebrows for 8 to 20 minutes, depending on the desired results. With pretreatment, colouring and shaping the treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes. The time may vary depending on each client and the final result you are achieving.
What is the best way to prepare the skin for henna brow treatment?
1. Remove any makeup and wash the eyebrows with In Lei Lash & Brow Shampoo. Make sure not only to clean the eyebrow hairs but also the skin around, so you have a clean area to work with. Wipe it off using damp cotton pads. For an extra deep cleaning to ensure you get the best colour/skin stain payoff, you can also go in with the London Lash Protein Pads to remove any oil/shampoo residue and ensure the area is super clean and ready for application.
2. Gently scrub the eyebrows and the skin around using a soft brow scrub/peeling, such as the In Lei Soft Brow Peel.
3. Wipe it off using damp cotton pads.
4. Brush the eyebrows and you are ready to start the treatment!
How is So Henna different from other brow henna powders on the market?
So Henna was developed by the best brow specialists in the industry - from brow artists to brow artists! It can be applied in only ONE layer when you usually need multiple layers when using other brands. This speeds up the treatment time and makes the application much easier.
So Henna colours can be used individually or mixed to achieve a perfect custom colour. Additionally, the colours do not result in a warm/orange colour payoff, unlike other brands on the market, and the final result can last up to 6 weeks on the hairs!
Why are the little balls in the powder not dissolving when it mix it?
The little balls inside the henna powder are part of the product in order to activate the colour!
It's important to mix the powder well enough so that the little balls dissolve and you achieve a smooth consistency.
If you're having trouble with mixing the product, there are a few solutions and top tips!
1) Use lukewarm water that has been boiled in a kettle and allowed to cool. By having your filtered water a bit warmer, this will help to dissolve the balls as you mix the product. Note: do not use hot water as this may negatively affect the outcome of the henna.
2) Using our So Henna electric mixing tool to speed up the process! Your Henna pot will come with a plastic spatula which you can use to mix the product, but we recommend to use the Mixing Tool as it will save you precious time during the treatment.
3) Some Henna colours will mix easier than others, this is normal and just part of how the colour has been formulated, so with darker colours, just spend a little bit of extra time mixing that product to a perfectly smooth consistency!
What can I mix So Henna powder with?
Add a little henna powder to a non-metallic container and mix with a few drops of distilled water. Ensure all powder is incorporated and leave to stand while you prepare the skin.
