Preparation Tips for Clients to Ensure They Get The Best Out of Their Henna Brows

Henna brows offer a fantastic, natural-looking enhancement to your clients' eyebrows, making them a popular choice in the beauty industry. To ensure the best results, both clients and Brow Technicians need to follow some preparation steps. Here’s a detailed guide on how clients can prepare for their henna brow treatment and what Brow Technicians can do once the appointment starts to ensure the treatment goes smoothly.

Preparation Tips for Clients

  1. Avoid Tweezing or Waxing

Encourage your clients to avoid tweezing, waxing, or threading their eyebrows at least one week before their appointment. This helps ensure there is enough hair for the henna to adhere to and allows for a more natural and fuller look. It also helps when it comes to the hair removal part of the treatment, as there is enough growth for the brow wax or thread to grip to, getting that perfectly clean result. As each client is different, some may come in with over-plucked or waxed brows that they wish to fix, this is of course achievable with So Henna. 1. Exfoliate the Skin

Advise your clients to gently exfoliate the skin around their eyebrows a day or two before their appointment. This helps remove dead skin cells, allowing the henna to penetrate better and adhere more evenly to the skin. This is particularly important for clients with dry skin!

  1. Avoid Oily Skincare Products

Clients should avoid using oily skincare products around the eyebrow area for at least 24 hours before their appointment. Oils can create a barrier that prevents the henna from staining the skin properly.

  1. Cleanse the Eyebrows

On the day of the appointment, clients should ideally come with makeup-free skin and thoroughly cleanse their eyebrows to remove any makeup, lotions, or oils before their appointment. A clean surface ensures better adhesion of the henna.

Preparation Tips for Brow Technicians

  1. Consultation

Always start with a thorough consultation. Understand the client’s brow goals, skin type, and any previous treatments or brow shaping they’ve had. Discuss any allergies or sensitivities they may have to ensure henna is the right choice for them.

  1. Skin Preparation

Before applying henna, ensure the client’s eyebrow area is completely clean and free from makeup or oils. Use a gentle cleanser or alcohol-free toner to clean the area.

  1. Exfoliate if Necessary

If the client hasn’t exfoliated, use a gentle exfoliator on the brow area to remove any dead skin cells. This step helps the henna to adhere better to the skin.

  1. Patch Test

If the client has never had a henna treatment with you before, it’s crucial to perform a patch test at least 24 hours before the appointment. This helps to check for any allergic reactions to the henna. Many insurance companies will not insure you if you haven’t performed a patch test, so this is THE most important part of any treatment for everyone involved!

  1. Brow Mapping

Map out the desired brow shape before applying the henna. Use Brow Mapping Tools and a Brow Mapping Paste or Thread to outline the shape and get the client’s approval. This ensures precision and that both you and the client are on the same page regarding the desired outcome. Once the henna process is complete, the brow map will help you to assess if any hairs need to be plucked, threaded or waxed to achieve the perfect brow shape.

Always remember, if you’ve waxed, plucked or threaded your clients' brows, they should make sure to keep the area clean and hygienic to avoid any potential infections.
